Your digital camera is an incredibly powerful tool that can yield stunning images if you learn to master its capabilities. This course is designed to help you gain confidence and skill as a photographer, not only by becoming proficient with your camera, but also by learning the fundamentals of the image making process.

Would you like to take advantage of amazing digital photography tips and tricks?

In An Introduction to Digital Photography you will learn :

  • the basics of image exposure, metering, and exposure compensation;
  • how a digital sensor creates images;
  • the fundamental digital controls, including understanding histograms, and setting white balance;
  • to create eye catching compositions using different lenses;
  • how and when to use your flash;
  • how to manage and organize your image files; and
  • the basics of image editing

The course includes 6 2.5 - hour sessions as well as a field trip, for a total of 18 course-hours of instruction. Weekly voluntary assignments are given and shared with the class at the start of each session.

Participants should :

  • own a digital camera;
  • be familiar with transfering images from their camera to their computer and emailing them to others;
  • must have internet access and be comfortable working in a PC or Mac environment;
  • have Adobe Acrobat Reader V.6.0 (or later) installed on their computer;
